ORAA is pleased to support the Josh and Nate Hardy Scholarship fund through profits from the annual
Bobcat Bolt road race.

The Josh and Nate Hardy scholarships are given out annually to a graduating senior at Oyster River High School. The Josh Hardy scholarship supports an aspiring art student and the Nate Hardy Scholarship benefits a distinguished male and female athlete.

For more information on Josh and Nate, please go to Since 2012 ORAA has donated $29,500 to the memory of Josh and Nate through supporting these awards.

Note: Prior to supporting the Josh and Nate Hardy Fund starting in 2012, the Bobcat Bolt race supported the Oyster River Teen Initiative from 2009 to 2011, giving out approximately $8,120 to ORTI during that period.

ORAA gives out an annual $300 scholarship to a graduating ORHS senior who has demonstrated excellence in Oyster River Community Organizing, and an additional $100 to a junior or senior who has volunteered a significant amount of time and energy helping the Association with fundraising events and generating student awareness of the organization. Through these awards we hope to generate future leaders in the Alumni Association.

ORAA Scholarship winners are selected based on teacher and administrator recommendation. Any work the student has done as a volunteer intern for the Oyster River Alumni Association is taken into account, but is not the sole basis of selection. The ORAA Service Award is largely given to students who have devoted time and energy in the volunteer ORAA internship program.

Since the inception of the ORAA Scholarship in 2010 and Service Award in 2015, ORAA has given out a total of $2,300 in funding. Funds are raised through a combination of direct alumni//community donations, wine tasting events, and the Bobcat Bolt race. Mini-grant  requests are made by O.R. teachers for small amounts of funding to support classroom projects that are not being covered by the regular district budget. Since its inception in 2010, ORAA has given $10,045 in mini grant funding to the Oyster River schools. Funds are raised through a combination of direct alumni support and the Bobcat Bolt race. Please go to our DONATION PAGE to learn about and support our current mini grant projects.
